My name is Mikel and I take pills

I, sometimes, wonder
where I would be,
what would happen to me,

if I lived on an island,
or lived here without insurance;
how would my mind be
without these pills that I take
for my mind?

It was a successful day

I done no bong hits today.
I put no blotter acid on my tongue.
I snorted no lines of speed, or cocaine.
I didn’t drink any beer, bourbon, rum,
vodka, gin, long island tea,
or do shots
of anything.
I didn’t get handcuffed,
thrown in a cell.
I won’t wake up
covered in blood and puke.
