Deborah Wong graduated from the University of London with a degree in law. She also did summer intensive creative writing at the University of British Columbia. Her poems and short stories are featured in ditch, Poetry Quarterly, Haiku Journal, Three Line Poetry, Inwood Indiana Press, Anak Sastra, Coffee Shop Poems, Red Fez, Mad Swirl, Banana Writers, Vox Poetica, Wish Poetry Press, Eastlit, The Tower Journal, Message in a Bottle Poetry Magazine, Crack The Spine and forthcoming in Streetcake Magazine. She’s one of the editorial board members of Eastlit for poetry submission and is currently working on her short story collection.

DEAR BACKFIRE

In reply to Sylvia Plath’s Mad Girl’s Love Song

I look into the suspended echo,
as your pretentious orgasm
acted as my walking shadow,
Skin of porcelain bliss
dressed in lilac noir,
We stroll by an adult sex sling
before and during the Triple X aftermath,
You steal materials at the rumble
thinking you can keep me
within that masochistic chain of yours.
I’m throwing dwarf strawberries,
into the back of my throat
like a Thanksgiving stuffed turkey, listening
to a neighbor’s brunette playing
December’s Nocturne with your bones,
I smell like an innocent schoolgirl
fidgeting memories
beyond the unhealed stitches.
I think too much but will it ever come true?
