Featured Poem / Fall/Winter 2015
I Hear a Cricket Singing
my funeral dirge. It echoes
over the blades of the ceiling fan.
I do not like its managerial tone.
I prefer to follow the silence
of a second thought, though I am
unsure if it was my own. It lingers
like a ghost on tomorrow’s lips.
Promising
and predatory. I close
my eyes, conceding. I am content
to be its prey.
